How Did the Sammamish Heritage Society Get Started?

The inaugural meeting of the Sammamish Heritage Society was held in April 1999 at the Paula Lillevand Cottage in the Beaver Lake Colony. At the first Sammamish Neighbor Day celebration in May 1999, the group presented a photographic display of the area's history.

The Society hosts special programs on heritage topics. Memories of Sammamish and Memories of Beaver Lake brought together long-time residents to reminisce about early days in Sammamish. Recent programs have included Genealogy Basics, Logging and Sawmills in the Sammamish Area, and the Howatson family's presentation on their lives in Sammamish and surrounding areas.
